Intertraffic Amsterdam is the largest gathering of traffic and mobility safety professionals in the world. It covers the the latest trends in infrastructure, traffic management, smart mobility, safety and parking. So, was definitely worth taking a look around!

To make it there, and bring back great ideas and product, Gareth and Oliver McLean from the Vanguard team put in some serious long-haul flights (no stop overs!) and got back as fast as they could with bags-full of state-of-the-art samples.

(Vanguard were there at the last biennial event, so it’s a regular commitment.)

Gareth said it was also a chance to meet suppliers from around the world and find new safety products.

“There’s one we brought back that’s highly exciting and another two that we believe have real potential. These things are really cutting edge.”

He says talking with leaders in infrastructure and traffic management is very thought provoking. “I don’t think we really understand how quickly technology is going to impact our traditional thinking when it comes to cars and personal mobility. Will the humble stop/go paddle always exist? Or will this one day be created with virtual, or even augmented, reality?”
