WorkSafe New Zealand is asking businesses for a renewed focus on employee’s exposure to products linked to cancer.
“Workers are 15 times more likely to die from a work-related disease than from a workplace accident”, says WorkSafe General Manager Strategy & Performance, Jude Urlich. This alarming statistic should make all businesses sit up and think about what potentially harmful substances may be in use in their own workplace.
Work related health issues are having not only a huge effect of personal health, but also a big impact on the cost to New Zealand as a whole, through higher health costs and hospitalisation.
All employers are asked to look into what methods can be used to eliminate carcinogens and reduce the amount of time workers may be exposed to them.
Vanguard like many other businesses run a warehouse, and take very seriously the products we supply our staff to use. Products such as our Soppec Spot Marking Paint and Soppec Line marking paint, which are Guaranteed to be free of CMR substances (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, Reprotoxic) are products that we use ourselves and supply to our customers. It is important to us that we seek, find and share ways to make a safer working environement for all.
