What is the difference between our 50mm-high and our 75mm-high speed hump, and which type should you use?
Although they’re not that much visually different, the profile difference driving over the 75mm compared to the 50mm hump is quite significant.
The 50mm-high speed hump will slow vehicles down to 15-20 km/h, whereas the 75mm-high speed hump will slow vehicles down to 5 km/h or less, and is a very abrupt bump to drive over.
The most common speed hump that we supply is the 50mm-high version. This is a great all rounder, and it’s used in a lot of different situations like car parks, driveways, supermarkets, and shopping centres.
In contrast, the 75mm-high speed hump is very abrupt to drive over, and we only recommend using this in extreme situations such as blind corners or pedestrian crossings or compulsory stops.
We don’t recommend using either speed hump on public roads as they are too abrupt a bump.
If you’re looking to slow down cars on roads, we recommend checking out our range of Speed Cushions or Speed Cushion Pads.
So if you’re wondering which type to use, nine times out of ten, the 50mm-high speed hump will be perfectly sufficient – only use the 75mm in extreme cases.
