A nationwide vehicle testing centre was opening a new location in Rolleston, Christchurch and wanted to ensure pedestrian and vehicular safety as vehicles drove around the location. The team at Vanguard worked with the architect for the project to supply and install a suitable walkway barrier, along with signage to complement the site’s traffic management plan.

Challenge:

With vehicles in constant motion in and around the testing centre, and customers entering and exiting those vehicles to book and attend appointments, the area around the centre was identified as a higher risk location. Vanguard’s solutions and service were put to the test to create a safe walkway for customers in the testing centre carpark, while allowing sufficient access to the carpark. The project also involved installing the correct signage to implement and communicate their traffic management plan. The installation needed to be installed in time for the opening of their site.

Having assessed the products and expertise on the market, the team at Vanguard were selected to assist in realising this safety goal on time in specification and on budget.

Solution:

Vanguard made recommendations on safety features to implement, provided the products and arranged installation on site. Vanguard’s Walksafe Handrail was identified as a more effective and professional-looking alternative to the proposed bollards with chain between, which had been suggested originally. In addition to the Walksafe system Vanguard also created safety signage to communicate hazards and traffic direction, and safety mirrors to mitigate risks and enhance pedestrian safety

Vanguard was able to both supply and install the handrail barriers, mirrors and signage required, which saved the client from needing to deal with two companies for their requirements.

Result:

Vanguard Group were able to consult, deliver and install the safety features that were selected in time for their opening. The safety of both customers and staff was ensured through the creation of a safe walkway, along with signage to ensure that traffic flowed freely and safely.
